5 simple steps to Bake:

  • 1) Preheat fan-forced oven to 170°C
  • 2) Remove pies from packaging – box and wrap (keeping foil intact).
  • 3) Arrange pies in foil, on a solid baking tray.
  • 4) Glaze with an egg/milk wash and decorate as desired.
  • 5) Bake for 40-45 minutes.

Tips for the best result:

  • • Apply a thin coating of glaze to the lid of the pie with a pastry brush. Lightly beaten egg or full cream milk will give a nice shine to the pie tops.
  • • You can add your own touch to these pies by adding colour and flavour, with a sprinkling of grated cheese, poppy or sesame seeds or herbs such as cracked black pepper or fresh rosemary, breadcrumbs etc.
  • • DO NOT use baking paper or wire racks, as the pie bases will not cook out.
  • • Rotate the baking trays after 20 minutes, where possible, for a more even bake.
  • • Remove the foil when the bake is complete and if the pie bottoms are still not cooked out, place the pie “lid down” on the baking tray, and return to the oven for a few minutes, to cook the pie base fully.
  • • The pies are very hot straight from the oven. Take care when handling and we suggest resting them for 5 minutes before serving.
